Bedford is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The city began as part of the Connecticut Western Reserve in 1797. A large portion of the Western Reserve was sold to the Connecticut Land Company in 1795. The area that was named township 6, range 11 would eventually become Bedford. The first settlers began to arrive in 1813. Eventually, in 1932, the then Village of Bedford became the City of Bedford. Today, the city covers an area of 5.39 square miles and is home to over 12,000 people.
